Carytown

Carytown is a 1 mile stretch of W. Cary St. starting about 1.5 blocks from the Flats.  This mile is complete with mostly locally owned shops and restaurants.  It also has the Byrd Theater which always has an eclectic schedule of movies playing daily. Included in the shopping are Plan 9 Records, which is an old school Richmond record store that has stood the test of time and World of Mirth, which is the toy store you would have wished you had known about your whole life.

You are also within walking distance of at least 25 other restaurants and bars.

Kreggers at Hand

Directly across the street.  Excellent burgers and sandwiches.  Tons of beer and wine on draft.

Pizza and Beer of Richmond

On the corner of the block (we are located in the middle of the block). Tons of Richmond and Virginia beers, excellent pizza.

Roastology

On the corner opposite from PBR.  Amazing coffee and bagels.

SBs Loveshack

One block away on the corner of Robinson and Main Streets. Amazing breakfast all day long.

Bamboo Café

One block away on the corner of Mulberry and Main Streets.  A staple of the Fan with excellent food and drinks.

Byrd Park

Perfect for jogging or just enjoying nature and only 3 blocks away.  Three huge lakes, tons of open space, and an exercise course that has a one-mile jogging trail. 

Maymont Park

Maymont is on the other side of Byrd Park, about 1 mile away.  This park includes tons of Virginia wildlife exhibits, including black bears, bobcats, a petting farm, a nature center, and both Japanese and Italian themed gardens.

Beet Box

Smoothie and Juice Bar located two-doors away. Awesome vibe, excellent food, drinks and people. 

The Clothes Rack

We have an amazing thrift store located across the street, on our block.   If you enjoy, thrifting, The Clothes Rack should be added to your list of places to stop.

Virginia Museum of Fine Arts

VMFA is an easy 5-block walk from the Flats.  This fine arts museum has free entry to a large number of exhibits as well as paid exhibits.  Completing the museum is a jazz café and an outside lawn that includes additional pieces of art. 

ReCycles Bike Shop

Located directly next door.  Cool inventory of new and rebuilt bikes.  Excellent knowledge of bicycle repair as well as places to ride in the city.
